Are Malaysians ready for the vaccine shots when it arrives?

REGISTRATIONS for COVID-19 vaccinations, which is said to open starting next month (March), will indicate the willingness of Malaysians to be inoculated.

Although the vaccinations will purely be on a voluntary basis, it is advised that people aged above 18 years old to sign up to get it.

According to the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme coordinator Khairy Jamaluddin, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will be among the first people to get shots of the Pfizer vaccines.

Khairy, who is also the Science, Technology & Innovation Minister, noted that frontline workers will be up next in line till April, followed by members of the public who are aged 60 and above, those with disabilities or morbidity issues (April to August) and people aged 18 and above (May 2021 to February 2022), which will be under the three-phase national vaccination plan.

  • Soon-to-be-launched COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Special Committee (JKJAV) website
  • Soon-to-be-launched hotline
  • Mosti-state government collaboration for people living in the interior
