AS protesters plan to congregate at Dataran Merdeka later, #Lawan started trending on Twitter again, with many voicing support towards the movement and guides on how to deal with the authorities.
“Fight for Democracy. Fight for the people’s right. Fight for those who had fallen. Fight for a better future,” said user ATS.
User Ameer Syazwan added: “I’m sending my virtual supports and love to all my friends in #LAWAN protest!
“Semakin dicantas, semakin tumbuh. (The more you cut us off, the more we grow back)
User Casper Kent stated: “Good luck & stay safe to those who join the #Lawan protest. Your voices matter for Malaysia’s future.”
The Perikatan Nasional Government has come under massive pressure from many quarters for failing to contain COVID-19 and rejuvenate the ailing economy despite enacting various measurers, including proclaiming an Emergency in February.
With Government claimed not reaching target groups, the people have started the White Flag Campaign and the Black Flag campaigns, one urging those in need to raise white flags so those with means can help them out and the other to get Government leaders to resign.
Contract medical officers (MO) have also stood up against the Government for failing to provide them with permanent posts, despite working hard to contain COVID-19 around the clock.
The massive anger against the Government peaked when Istana Negara chided the Government for misleading the Parliament over the debate on Emergency Ordinances, with Yang di-Pertuan Agong rebuking both Law Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun.
On today protest, several netizens have also urged participants to practise COVID-19 standard operating procedures at all times to keep the disease at bay.
Meanwhile, another user The Fikrey added: “Those who goes for #LAWAN rally, stay safe, thank you for voicing out for the rakyat!! Whatever happens, kita #LAWAN!!!”
The rally is scheduled to be held at 11am today, at Dataran Merdeka. – July 31, 2021
