MALAYSIA has logged 5,745 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday (Oct 19) – a slight uptick from the previous day’s record of 5,434 cases.
This is the second day in a row where cases have been below the 6,000 mark.
To date, the country’s cumulative coronavirus infections stood at 2,401,866, according to a tweet by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Of the new cases, only 115 cases or 2% of the latest infections were in category three, four or five, while the remaining 5,630 or 98% were in category one or two.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 8,933 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,287,888.
There were 69 deaths recorded as at 11.59pm on Tuesday (Oct 19), bringing the death tally to 28,062.
Of the current cases, 676 cases required treatment in intensive care units and 330 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Oct 20, 2021
