COVID-19: Cases continue downward trend, 5,190 recoveries

MALAYSIA continues to show a downward trend in the number of new COVID-19 cases with 4,343 new cases, compared to Saturday’s 4,701.

This brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,506,309.

In a statement, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham said that of the new COVID-19 cases, 4,275 (98.4%) were mild and asymptomatic infections in Categories one and two, while the remaining 68 (1.6%) were from Categories three, four and five.

Categories one and two refer to patients with mild symptoms or none at all, category three refers to patients with pneumonia, while patients in categories four and five require oxygen and need ventilators, respectively.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 5,190 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,412,396.

There were 35 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 29,291.

Of the current cases, 554 cases required treatment in intensive care units (ICU) and 272 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Nov 8, 2021
