Malaysia records 4,227 new cases, the fully-vaccinated reaches 77.7%

MALAYSIA recorded 4,227 new COVID-19 cases on Monday (Nov 29), with the country successfully fully-vaccinated 77.7% of its population.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic started now stands at 2,617,858.

The site also showed that 5,007 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, with a total of 2,527,052 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

There were also 29 fatalities recorded with six patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 30,309.

The total number of active cases in the country is now at 66,455, with 82.3% of them (54,685) being subjected to home quarantine.

Additionally, 250 people are being treated in intensive care units (ICUs), with 261 patients requiring ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus that originated from South Africa continues to make its mark in other countries, with new cases detected in the Netherlands, Denmark and Australia.

The World Health Organization said that it “will take days to several weeks” to determine the level of severity of this new Omicron variant. – Nov 29, 2021
