M’sia reported 4,046 new COVID-19 cases, ICU-admitted patients decreasing

THE country recorded 4,046 new COVID-related cases, despite the number of COVID-19 infected patients being admitted into intensive care units (ICUs) have dropped since last Saturday (Jan 15).

With 489 of the new recorded cases being imported, the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website showed that the number of ICU-admitted patients currently stands at 149 (compared to 204 last week), with about half of that number (71) of patients are in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,804 COVID-19 patients have made full recoveries since the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 2,750,261 since the outbreak began.

Also within the last 24 hours, there have been 16 deaths of COVID-19 patients, with two of them were brought in dead (BID). The COVID-19 death toll in the country now stands at 31,869.

Additionally, there are still 42,843 active cases in the country at the moment, with 83% of that number are being subjected to home quarantine. – Jan 22, 2022
