IT seems certain politicians and high-ranking public servants are trying to outdo each other in terms of coming up with the most bizarre statements.
This time around, Kelantan Forestry Department director Khalim Abu Samah “upped the ante” by saying that deforestation is actually good for tigers!
According to him, logging will cause new vegetation to grow, which would attract herbivorous animals to come there for food.
“Experts have said with the fresh vegetation, animals such as mousedeer will come and ease the process for tigers to hunt for food,” he was reported saying by Malaysiakini.
However, netizens were flabbergasted by Khalim’s defence of Kelantan’s logging activities and mocked him.
“According to the logic of this stupid fool deforestation may be good for the fishes in the rivers too because deforestation causes floods and when it floods the fishes get to exercise more!” user Lotus Garden said.
