Malaysia’s COVID-19 situation worsening, 36 deaths reported

AS of Saturday (Feb 19) morning, the number of new COVID-19 cases has climbed up to 27,689 (total 3,145,174), getting closer and closer to the 30,000 mark.

What is more shocking, the number of COVID-19 related casualties reached to 36 people within the last 24 hours alone, with 11 of them brought in dead (BID). This brings the total of COVID-19 deaths that happened in the country to 32,276.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 12,488 patients have recovered within the last 24 hours, marking a total of 2,900,682 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, a large number of people (235) are still being treated in ICUs with 132 of them in need of ventilator support.

The total number of active cases in the country is now at 233,965 – almost double of last week – with 94.3% of them (219,696) are being subjected to home quarantine. – Feb 19, 2022
