THE number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia registered 27,435 new patients within the last 24 hours, with 254 of them being imported cases.
This now brings the country’s total to 3,597,683 since the pandemic began.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 30,335 patients have recovered since yesterday (March 6), bringing the number to a total of 3,281,128 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.
However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate is still high at 67.3%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 59.2% capacity.
Currently, 379 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (216) in need of ventilator support.
There is still an extremely worrying number fatalities recorded, standing at 55 deaths with 16 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 33,228.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 308,251, with 95.9% of them (295,704) are being subjected to home quarantine. – March 7, 2022
