“Don’t shoot the messenger”: Netizens pan Guan Eng over Rafizi’s remarks

WITH PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli announcing his return to active politics, it seems his statements had ruffled the feathers of several key leaders in Pakatan Harapan (Pakatan).

In an interview with Malaysiakini, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said that perhaps Rafizi should challenge PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his seat.

The former finance minister said this following the former Pandan MP’s scathing attacks against the coalition for not being able to move on post the infamous Sheraton Move, which ousted them from Putrajaya.

“I even issued a statement before his (Rafizi’s) statement came out – saying no Perikatan Nasional. Where is the issue?

“I think this one is basically directed at Anwar because he mentions not just Pakatan but PKR (as well). So, from there, it is clear that if there are any negotiations, they will talk to Anwar.

So, his (Rafizi’s) target is Anwar. I think that since this is for his campaign purposes for deputy president, I don’t want to get involved.

“Perhaps, instead of contesting for deputy president, he should contest for the president’s post straight,” Lim was reported as saying.

However, several netizens did not take Lim’s sarcasm lightly and berated the latter for apparently not being able to see the forest from the trees.

“With this kind of remarks, one can see the brewing trouble in PH. It doesn’t augur well for the future.”

Two days ago, Rafizi announced that he would return to active politics following PKR’s disastrous performance in four state by-elections; Sabah, Melaka, Sarawak and Johor.

He said that Pakatan Harapan leadership appear clueless on how to move on following the Sheraton Move in 2020 which ousted them from Putrajaya.

Fellow PKR leader, Farhash Wafa Salvador also did not take Rafizi’s criticisms kindly and also mockingly urged the latter to contest the top party post if he thinks highly of himself.

On that note, user Kenny Shim stated that if Lim could “advise” to contest the top spot, then the latter should “advise’ himself to throw in the towel too.

Netizen James Stephen Aruputhasamy remarked: “YB u can deny but u cannot hide the truth… high time 4 u to give other leaders to take over ur job… u clear ur court case.” – March 17, 2022
