A contest on organising events in the new norm

DO you have innovative ideas on how to organise business events comprising meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) in the “new normal”? If so, you should consider entering a contest organised by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

The non-profit organisation is inviting university students and industry professionals to share their innovative ideas through the competition titled “The New Norm in Organising Future Business Events”.

It has three categories with different scenarios, and winners in each category stand to win cash prizes of up to RM3,000 (first prize).

Participants can enter as individuals or in groups. Entries must be submitted by May 15 (noon) and the winners will be announced on June 2.

In a statement today, MyCEB said the ideas or input submissions may include a combination of virtual and onsite events, taking into consideration the current situation and outlook on how participants would organise business events or MICE differently in the new norm.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said this platform will also enable individuals or groups who are game-changers to showcase their new explorations and discoveries, sharing insights on various issues in challenging boundaries and adding value to clients and the industry.

“With the current MCO, I would encourage individuals or groups to unleash their talents by joining this competition. Together, we work hand in hand to continuously support all parties involved in the tourism, arts and culture industry,” she said.

Meanwhile, MyCEB CEO Datuk Seri Abdul Khani Daud said the business events sector is a major economic driver, not only for the country’s economy but also in generating trade, investment and employment. — May 4, 2020, Bernama
