A critic from Pasir Gudang now stands in defence of Anwar

PASIR Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim has been a constant pain in Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s side since he took power, questioning many of his decisions and moves, but today seems to be a different day with the MP now defending Anwar.Among the epic moments of Hassan versus Anwar, the MP voiced his disagreement with the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by the coalition partners to cement the unity government. He joined former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the attack on the MOA and Anwar. He also took to Facebook to urge Anwar and Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli to explain the recent increase in the BNM overnight policy rate (OPR) by 25 basis points to 3%.As if that were not pertinent enough, he even asked Anwar to explain the expenses for the Hari Raya open house held in six states. Moreover, he went on to also question why Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar did not go on leave to allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to complete its investigations into allegations of corruption in his ministry. This was also seen as an indirect attack on Anwar.Last week, he also targeted Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil in his statement that police are watching those who touched on the 3R.However today, he posted a missive against Anwar’s opponents and their alleged plot to overthrow the PM.Furthermore, he mentioned the various threats that Anwar revealed yesterday (June 30) in a speech at the Jamek An-Nur Mosque, Kampung Guar Perahu, Permatang Pauh, Penang. He also pointed out such threats were not worthy of being accepted by a PM who is honest and sincere in fighting for the nation and country. Rare praise of the PM, indeed by Hassan.“Why should Anwar be toppled? Anwar wants to eliminate corruption. Is that wrong?” asked Hassan in a poem.He also wrote about Anwar’s attempt to rejig the subsidy programmes.Anwar’s proposal to remove a blanket subsidy in favour of a more targeted programme that can benefit the poor He asked why this was also considered wrong by Anwar’s opponents. He also asked whether it is Anwar who is responsible if the people in Kedah and Kelantan are poor.Has Anwar finally found fresh support from an MP who vowed to speak freely to satisfy his constituents? – July 30, 2023
