A flawless swing brings the 2022 MercedesTrophy National Finals to a close

MERCEDES-Benz Malaysia recently hosted the 2022 MercedesTrophy National Finals, bringing the tournament to a close for the year. Capping its 32nd year on the greens, MercedesTrophy has evolved into an extremely successful tournament series for amateurs staged in over 60 countries.

According to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice president (sales and marketing) Michael Jopp, MercedesTrophy is a sporting event that reflects the brilliant connection between sports and lifestyle while underlining the premier status for Mercedes-Benz.

The combination of excellent skills and sophisticated lifestyle have been a hallmark of the tournament as it is regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the golfing calendar with more than 60,000 participants around the globe.

“At Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, we are proud to host the annual worldwide invitational amateur golf series, the MercedesTrophy 2022,” commented Jopp.

“Together with our participating customers and partners, this exclusive golf tournament is one of the events that our customers look forward to participating in every year by virtue of it being an invitation-only tournament for Mercedes-Benz customers who are golf enthusiasts.”

Meanwhile, MercedesTrophy 2022 overall champion Lew Pei Yew relished the satisfaction of being crowned the overall winner of this prestigious tournament.

“Surrounded by worthy competitors, the tournament showed me that I am on the right track with my practice and training,” he revealed.

“I really look forward to this tournament every year as it attracts the top golfers nationwide and the Saujana Golf and Country Club (Saujana GCC) course was in fantastic condition, making it a challenging yet exciting course to play. It was an honour to be a part of this tournament and I look forward to playing in the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in Sindelfingen in September.”

Moreover, this year’s competition was played in five qualifying rounds with its first qualifying round at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club whereby the top five winners of each round met for the national final which was held at the Saujana GCC Selangor.

The tournament offered many exciting prizes and exclusive merchandise including the all-new Mercedes-Benz E 200 Avantgarde. The grand prize for the top two finishing finalists in the National Final is a trophy and all-expense paid trip to the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in Sindelfingen, Germany from Sept 28 to Oct 3.

Besides, they will be joined by the winner from the MercedesTrophy National Final 2020 Gow Weng Suan, forming a team of three to represent Malaysia in the world final. – July 30, 2022
