“Accept frogs at your own risk”: Netizens pan Anwar for defending Melaka defectors!

UNIMPRESSED with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s defence of the infamous Melaka trio which collapsed the state government, allies and the public took to social media to criticise the former.

On this, former Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim sarcastically posted this on Twitter:

User Mandy urged Pakatan Harapan to stop accepting political frogs, reminding them that such characters cannot be trusted.

Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported Anwar as saying that out of the quartet, three of them cannot be rejected as they were merely attempting to restore Pakatan’s mandate in the state government.

“Now, there are people on social media who want us to reject them. That is not right. They supported efforts to restore (Harapan’s) mandate,” he told reporters.

The Opposition Leader also confirmed that the trio, Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Datuk Nor Azman Hassan and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad had met Melaka’s Pakatan leadership prior to withdrawing support for the UMNO-led state administration.

“The understanding (between the three and Harapan) was that they wanted to join us. If they take action later, they know they will be sacked from their parties.

“Therefore, we cannot just sideline them. I will have to discuss more with the (PKR) leadership in Malacca and then with the Harapan leadership. We have to take these issues into account before making a decision,” Anwar was reported saying.

Amanah’s decision, Anwar the “scapegoat”

On that note, PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli alleged that it was Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) who were adamant to work with the trio, with Anwar bearing the brunt of having to defend it.

(The ones insisting on working with the trio are Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and Adly Zahari, in addition to several PKR leaders. Their excuse is that it would boost Pakatan’s chances, just like how working with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad “helped’ us during the last general election.)

(However, it is Anwar who has to answer and receive criticism for it. Mat Sabu, do answer the questions as well. Don’t only make noise during leadership meetings.)

Echoing Rafizi’s sentiments, user Tom K added that Pakatan’s action reflect its policy of not having any principles; ready to do anything to win despite the risks involved.
