AEON Credit extends Malaysia-Japan ties by helping earthquake victims

AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd in collaboration with AEON Co (M) Bhd and the Malaysian AEON Foundation has jointly donated RM500,000 to aid victims of the recent 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Suzu on the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan on Jan 1 this year.

A mock cheque was presented to Japan’s ambassador to Malaysia Takahashi Katsuhiko in a recent ceremony that took place at the Japanese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The contribution of RM500,000 comprised RM175,000 each from AEON Credit and AEON Co in addition to funds that were collected by the Malaysian AEON Foundation during its public donation drive in January 2024 amounting to RM150,000.

“Our ongoing commitment to support the people in need – both locally and internationally – is rooted in AEON Credit’s commitment to community welfare,” commented AEON Credit chairman Ng Eng Kiat. “Today, as the AEON Group of Companies in Malaysia, we stand together in pursuit of these objectives.”

Over the years, the Malaysian AEON Foundation has donated more than RM20 mil, extending a helping hand to those in need of the basics like education, shelter and medical support.

This sustained effort enables individuals to re-discover the simple joys of everyday life, thus embodying AEON’s commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those affected by adversity. – March 27, 2024
