BEHIND every extraordinary achievement is someone who believed it was possible. At Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad (DLMI), that belief sparked a quiet but powerful revolution—where struggles became strength, and fear gave way to a future full of hope.
In October 2024, DLMI launched its pilot Program Murid Angkat Dutch Lady in collaboration with the Education Ministry and the State Education Department of Putrajaya.
This wasn’t just another programme; this was a promise to children who needed someone to see their potential.
A total of 20 Form 5 students, each from underprivileged backgrounds and at risk at falling through the cracks were selected to participate in this programme; they were given not only milk, but something far more powerful: a second chance.
Every evening, from Monday to Thursday, they were served nutritious dinners and milk while attending specially designed tuition classes helped them catch up.
The best teachers from around Putrajaya were carefully selected to serve as tutors for key subjects, including Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and History.
Motivational seminars gave them the confidence to dream again. Slowly, steadily, something extraordinary happened. They believed. They tried. And they triumphed.
Today, every single one of these students has passed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations. Some, who once doubted if they even belonged in a classroom, now proudly count 5 to 7 As to their names.
They are living proof that when you nourish not just the body, but the mind and spirit, children don’t just survive—they soar.
“When we choose to believe in a child, we change the course of their future. This journey is proof that potential is everywhere—waiting for someone to care enough to ignite it.
“That is what our purpose, ‘Nourishing Our Nation’ is all about,” said DLIM corporate affairs director Ezmir Hazizi Azhar.
At a recent gathering with students and their parents, the mother of Muhammad Aidiel Zafran Muhammad Rashid, a student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Putrajaya Presint 5 who participated in the programme expressed her heartfelt gratitude.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Education Ministry (MOE), Dutch Lady and all the dedicated teachers who played such an important role in Aidiel’s learning journey,” she said.
“With their support, I am proud and delighted with the results we see today. I am truly grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this programme, and I hope Dutch Lady and the MOE will continue this meaningful initiative into its next phase.”
Another participant of the programme, Nurul Anis Nadia Ahmad Tamizi, also from SMK Putrajaya Presint 5 added, “During my trial exams, I failed Mathematics. However, after participating in this programme, I managed to achieve a C+. The Dutch Lady classes truly helped us a lot.”
DLMI’s commitment to these young achievers is just the beginning. The journey that started with belief will continue with Dutch Lady’s Dermasiswa Programme where DLMI provide financial support, and internship opportunities that will help these students chase even bigger dreams and brighter futures.
With hearts full of hope and eyes firmly on the future, DLMI is now bringing the Program Murid Angkat Dutch Lady to Sarawak—determined to reach more children, spark new dreams, and build a future where no child is left unseen, unsupported, or left behind.
