Ageson says it doesn’t have AP to export sand

AGESON Bhd said today neither the company nor any of its entities have the Approved Permit (AP) for sand export.

It said this in response to the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia’s (JMG) statement that no AP was given to the company for sand export.

“Further, the company is not privy to such information on whether any applications are required and/or submitted to JMG for any kind of collaborations with the existing AP holders that export sand,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

“The company takes cognisant of the laws, procedures and requirements needed for sand export to overseas and would ensure its sand export business, at all times, is in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations,” it added.

Ageson earlier this month announced the award of a purchase order from Guangzhou Kaishengda Industrial Co Ltd to its wholly-owned unit, Esa Pile Sdn Bhd, wherein the latter would be leveraging on its business partners in the sand business.

The business partners are World Tractor Parts (HK) Limited (sales and marketing consultant in sand business), Zhillion Sand Sdn Bhd (sand operation), and Polo Specialist Trading Sdn Bhd (AP holder).

However, it said Esa Pile will not be limiting itself to relying only on Polo Specialist Trading as the AP holder.

Notwithstanding Esa Pile’s partnerships in the sand business, Ageson said it is currently in the midst of discussions and negotiations with several potential business partners in Malaysia to undertake the business of sand supply and export.

It said the company had extended its exploration for potential collaboration in the sand business beyond Malaysia and is currently in talks on potential collaborations with potential business partners in Southeast Asia.

The discussions and negotiations with these potential business partners are currently at the preliminary stage, it added.

On Saturday, JMG director-general Datuk Shahar Effendi Abdullah Azizi said the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, through JMG, found there was no record of existing AP holders exporting sand making any joint-venture agreement to supply sand to the company or subsidiary to date.

Shahar Effendi was commenting on an article titled “Ageson to source RM27.5 bil worth of natural sand from Terengganu, Pahang for client in China” published by a news portal on May 8. — May 12, 2020, Bernama
