Agong and consort test positive for COVID-19, undergoing self-quarantine

THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong al-Sultan Abdullah Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Shah and his consort, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement issued by Istana Negara, the Comptroller of the Royal Seal Datuk Ahmad Fadhil Shamsuddin said that while Sultan Abdullah will be undergoing self-quarantine until April 7, Tunku Azizah will undergo self-quarantine until April 8.

“Their Majesties will be undergoing self-quarantine in line with Health Ministry’s (MOH) standard operating procedure (SOP) for those exhibiting mild symptoms and asymptomatic.

“It is to note that both of them are generally alright and there is nothing to worry about,” Ahmad Fahdil stated.

With the Ramadan month approaching, the Agong has urged all Malaysians to adhere to COVID-19 SOP strictly despite the country undergoing the phase to endemicity starting yesterday.

“And I urge all Malaysians to pray for Their Majesties speedy recovery and be blessed with a long and healthy life,” Ahmad Fadhil remarked. – April 2, 2022
