PAS Central Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has claimed that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government is losing public support due to poor governance, high living costs, and unfulfilled ‘reformasi’ promises.
The Pasir Mas MP reiterated the observation of many who see several issues related to governance, the cost of living, and weaknesses in implementing the ‘reformasi’ agenda by the PH government.
“The PH government is already on its last legs. At any time, Insya-Allah, they will turn into the opposition,” he said.
Speaking at a public talk, he criticised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for rolling back equal constituency allocations to opposition MPs – a policy previously honoured by past administrations.
He said during the administration of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed after the 14th General Election (GE14), opposition MPs were allocated RM100,000 per year.
When Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was the prime minister, he recalled, an allocation of RM300,000 was given to every MP in the form of food basket assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic, regardless of government or opposition.
Then came Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, who held negotiations with the opposition (PH) and gave allocations to the opposition equal to the government because there was a memorandum of understanding signed.
“But when Anwar became Prime Minister, suddenly we went backward.”
He suggested that recent calls by DAP leaders to mandate equal funding indicate the ruling coalition anticipates returning to the opposition.
“It turns out you already see that you are going to lose. When you lose later and become opposition Members of Parliament, you too will want allocations,” he said.
Ahmad Fadhli also challenged claims that UMNO leaders sought to block state allocations, blaming specific government MPs instead.
Highlighting rising prices for essential goods like chicken and eggs, he questioned the government’s lavish spending during times of public hardship.
Furthermore, he raised concerns over the unaddressed “corporate mafia” investigations, predicting that PH component parties, particularly Amanah, will face severe public rejection in the upcoming GE.
“Especially Amanah will become like a rag cloth after the upcoming GE,” he predicted. — Aug 29, 2026
