AIA goes online to lure more customers other than via agents

KUALA LUMPUR: AIA General Bhd aims to draw more customers via its online platform, with CEO Eric Chang confident the new avenue could better expose the company’s insurance policy availability in the market.

“We have always sold through our agents. [For Family Drive] there is a quotation form online, but we want people to be able to buy online immediately. So that’s what we are working to create,” he said at the ‘Family Drive’ media launch here today.

He said the policy should be available online in the next couple of months.

‘Family Drive’ is comprehensive car insurance that, while providing the usual protection for both third party and own loss and damages, also offers a 5% family discount when two or more cars in the family are insured under the same household.

Being a first in Malaysia, it also grants an excess waiver if customers repair their cars at AIA panel workshops, he said.

“Our market research identified various customer concerns where we saw the growing trend of expanding families who were worried about their family’s safety and the inconveniences caused by car accidents,” Chang explained.

There is also personal accident protection, which ensures that anyone travelling in the insured car is automatically covered with up to RM250,000 personal accident coverage.

These customers would also receive an inconvenience allowance of RM600 per accident if their car is being repaired in the workshop, he added. – Feb 10, 2020, Bernama
