THERE are many ways to enjoy a road trip. You can admire the scenery, listen to music, play games, argue with your siblings over who gets the window seat or, apparently, stick half your body out of the sunroof of a Toyota Alphard as it cruises along the highway at more than 100km per hour.
It was claimed that the vehicle was moving along the North-South Expressway, from the Meru exit towards Jalan Jelapang-Simpang Pulai.
The footage, captured by another road user and then circulated on the cyberspace, has left many Malaysians scratching their heads.
Online claims further suggested that the vehicle travelled at more than 100km/h, although that speed has not been independently verified.
Either way, this is probably not what Toyota had in mind when it designed the sunroof.

The feature is supposed to let passengers enjoy a little extra sunlight, fresh air and perhaps the occasional dramatic view of the sky.
It is probably not meant to transform the roof of a luxury MPV into a miniature observation deck.
The video has predictably attracted plenty of criticism, with netizens questioning how the children were allowed to put themselves in such a dangerous position.
Netizen @BilliBear3 added that these people will have an excuse up their sleeves when something bad happens.
Another netizen had a few choice words for these daredevils too.
Then there was @Seishiro85 pointing out that it was not a good idea due to the haze.
Police are now trying to identify and track down the owner of the vehicle. Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said no police report had been lodged over the incident, but authorities were investigating the viral footage.
If the individuals are confirmed to be children, the case could be investigated under the Child Act 2001.
Honestly speaking, this is one occasion where the phrase “kids will be kids” really does not cut it.
Maybe the next Alphard model will come with a disclaimer: Warning. Sunroof is for sunlight. Not for children.—Sept 3, 2026
