Amirudin holds Muhyiddin responsible for the subsidy surge during his leadership

KEADILAN vice president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar said that Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) increased subsidies when it was in power and that has caused public debt to rise.He was referring to the time former premier Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was in power, saying it resulted in a higher debt ratio for the country. He blamed the PN leader for the rise of the national debt to 65% of the gross domestic product (GDP) from the previous 55%.He also pointed out the PN opposition likes to talk about what they have done during their 3-year tenure, adding that the PN has nothing to show.“They do not have much to show besides the Movement Control Order or MCO (during the COVID-19 crisis) and the wage subsidy (when the economic sector is in lockdown).

“This subsidy is what increased the national debt. It increased to 65% of GDP. Before it was only 55%. Who pushed it? Muhyiddin Yassin.”“On the other hand, we (unity government) are increasing the amount of Rahmah Cash Contributions (to the public) and it is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who increased the amount.

“As for the Civil Servant’s bonus, this is the first time in 15 years that we can give RM2000. During Muhyiddins’s time, it was only RM500,” he said during a speech at the Central Keadilan Information Convention at Saujana Hotel, Subang.

He also noted it was important to spread the success of the Madani government in many sectors, and the success of the administrative policy should be compared to the previous PN government’s administration. – March 9, 2024
