Amirudin: “Selangor to stand its ground, state government to complete full term”

SULTAN of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants the current Pakatan Harapan state government to complete its full term, announced Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

According to Amirudin, Sultan Sharafuddin wanted the current administration to focus on safeguarding the welfare of the people instead of dissolving the state assembly to follow the dissolution of the Parliament.

This also means that the Selangor state polls will only be held next year, he added via a statement on his official Facebook page.

This comes following Amirudin’s audience with the sultan at Istana Bukit Kayangan earlier this morning.

The menteri besar also said he had briefed Sultan Sharafuddin on the state government’s preparations for possible floods in Selangor alongside economic recovery efforts, welfare assistance as well as the preparation for the Selangor state budget 2023 which will be tabled at the legislative assembly this year.

In a special address yesterday (Oct 10) caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament, therefore paving way for the 15th general election (GE15) to be held within 60 days. – Oct 11, 2022
