Netizens have been all abuzz, with some saying SEGi University should not have aired its dirty laundry in public while others had applauded the transparency it showed by being honest about exposing these “unacceptable acts” publicly.

A source from SEGi’s top management has confirmed that the university had conducted an internal investigation with due diligence and discovered “tangible evidence”, as well as paper trails of misappropriation of intellectual property (IP).

It is said that the university is proceeding with legal action against parties involved. Besides the “theft”, it is also said that other “dishonest” acts regarding academic assessments had occurred.

The source added that being an institution of higher learning, SEGi felt it could not condone such acts as this could not only affect the credibility of the institution but could give private education a bad name.

SEGi felt it was their duty to be “transparent”, as not releasing a notice would be tantamount to “placid approval”. – June 13, 2022
