Annuar Musa blindsided by Pakatan and Perikatan’s manoeuvrings, UMNO says

KETEREH UMNO division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa seemed to be clueless on Pakatan Harapan (Pakatan) and Perikatan Nasional’s (Perikatan) agenda in trying to extend the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Government and Opposition last year.

“In fact, I daresay many UMNO leaders are oblivious to both coalitions’ agenda. They are just trying to buy time after the drubbing received in the Melaka and Johor state elections.

“When you extend the agreement, they will continue getting allocations. Bear in mind, Pakatan is not really interested in supporting all Government Bills but people like Annuar is still excited to extend the MoU,” UMNO supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said in a Facebook post.

Two days ago, Annuar told several quarters that the MoU signed on Sept 13 last year was between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Pakatan; and was not a deal between political parties.

He added that while UMNO has every right to not continue with the agreement, members must understand the matter in its entirety.

“While it expires on July 31, it is up to the Prime Minister whether he wants to extend it or not,” Berita Harian reported the Communications and Multimedia Minister as saying.

On that note, Ahmad Shabery said that both Pakatan and Perikatan are eager to see UMNO to hold its polls first so as to inflict as much damage to the party.

“They hope to see UMNO to get damaged severely before ending the MoU to face the general election. Nicely played, actually,” the former minister remarked. – July 23, 2022
