IRATE by several UMNO leaders who are persistent over snap polls, UMNO veteran Tan Sri Annuar Musa urged them to read Articles 2.1 and 3.1 in the Government’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Transformation and Political Stability with Pakatan Harapan to avoid any confusion about its expiry date.
Taking to Facebook, the Ketereh MP attached several copies of the MoU signed on Sept 13 last year to support his argument that there was no expiration date indicated under the agreement.
“To those who like to write a lot but are lazy to read and research or who may deliberately want confuse facts, I’m posting copies of the MoU.
“Please read Articles 2 and 3. Remember, I was there representing the Government during the signing,” he said.
Article 2.1 states: “This MOU shall be effective from the date this agreement is signed and shall apply until the dissolution of the 14th Parliament.”
Article 3.1 states: “The Government agrees not to propose the dissolution of Parliament before July 31, 2022.”
Based on the document, Annuar then reminded UMNO leaders that the MOU has no expiry date and it provides backing for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob until the Parliament is dissolved.
However, several netizens were unhappy with Annuar for backing the MoU and accused him of sidelining his own party’s interests.

(You are fit to replace Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s president)
Echoing Xixi’s sentiments, user Kamal Johan added:
(I support Annuar to become the president, not of UMNO but Bersatu. It is clear that his heart is there)
Netizen Rudy Rudy retorted:
(Just get out of UMNO. Go to Muhyiddin)
During the Muhyiddin’s administration, Annuar was constantly berated by his own partymen who accused him on pandering to Bersatu.
In his defence, the UMNO veteran kept reminding his party leaders that it was them who agreed to support Bersatu under the Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan) coalition after dislodging Pakatan from power.
The rift then escalated after Annuar was removed as UMNO secretary general last year, with Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan succeeding him.
Teach Zahid a lesson
On that note, several netizens came to Annuar’s defence and lauded him for being level-headed despite criticism from his party.

(You’re the best and among the leaders who work hard for the people. You’re upholding the party’s image instead of pandering to a corrupt leader)
Echoing his sentiments, user Hafidz Rizal II added:
(Great Tan Sri. Teach UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a lesson. Remind him that we Kelantanese are brave people) – June 5, 2022
