DESPITE getting brickbats for their insensitivity to other motorists, it seems VIPs are least bothered on how they are perceived by the public.
This time around, another VIP convoy seemed to have upset motorists who were stuck in a traffic as they were headed home to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha.
In 18-seconds video posted on social media yesterday, a convoy of police vehicles were seen to have cleared a congested road so that a VIP can have a smooth journey.
An irate motorist can be heard calling the VIP “babi” (pig) from his car, where the footage was taken.
While it cannot be verified who the VIP was, netizens seem to believe that it was former prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s convoy.
“Hentikan perkhidmatan outrider polis kepada Menteri dan Timbalan Menteri. Lagi2 yang dah tak pegang jawatan. Lagi2 yg dah disabit kesalahan merompak wang rakyat.
“Kerja polis tangkap perompak, jangan peralat polis iring perompak. Jaga maruah polis kita!” said Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim.
(Stop abusing our police outrider service. Besides, he is no longer holding a Government post and was convicted of misappropriating public funds. The police are supposed to nab thieves, not giving them escort service. Respect the police)
Echoing Sim’s sentiments, user Lady Gugu added:
(How is this imbecile still getting all sorts of privileges despite the entire world knowing his shenanigans? It’s because he still has supporters including from the Government. Am I allowed to curse someone on Raya Haji?)

It is to note that former prime ministers are usually provided with police escorts when travelling. As for Najib, the Government had stated before that his privileges would be withdrawn if his appeal at the Federal Court gets dismissed.
Even Pakatan did it
On that note, several netizens pointed out that even Pakatan Harapan leaders were guilty of being a nuisance to other motorists during their administration, when traveling using police outriders.

(This repulsive thing was already happening during former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration)
