OPPOSITION leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his assurance that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition would allow Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob an easy path through a confidence vote in Parliament if the latter acts in the interest of the rakyat.
The opposition leader said that PH has agreed to help defuse the political tension if Ismail Sabri’s government focused on ‘pro-rakyat’ programmes to help the poor and those who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We agreed that if this COVID-19 pandemic and pro-rakyat emphasis are effective, it will not be a problem to ensure that the situation is more under control,” Anwar told the media after spending more than an hour meeting with Ismail Sabri at his office today.
The Port Dickson MP, who attended the meeting with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, also said that the coalition would not make it difficult for Ismail Sabri in Parliament if the programmes were implemented and running.
Calling the meeting a “good start” Anwar revealed that there will be another committee-state meeting that would be attended by representatives.
“They will hash out what can be agreed, and what measures can be taken so that the country’s and the prime minister’s positions and situations are under control.” – Aug 25, 2021.
