Anwar turns down use of Benz S600 but ‘dangers’ lurk everywhere

LATE last night (Nov 27), newly minted Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim penned in his Facebook post that he has refused to use a Mercedes-Benz S600 type vehicle that was purchased and obtained by the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) before he assumed office.

“The step was taken because I did not want any new expenses to be made on me,” he humbly reasoned in his post which has garnered 87,000 likes, 8,800 comments and 2,900 shares at the time of writing. “Instead, I have decided to use whatever vehicles which are readily available in the office for daily use.”

According to the wapcar.my portal, the 2021-2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in two variants which are priced from RM650,113 to RM698,744.

The base model of the S-Class which is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 450 L AMG Line is sold at price of RM650,113 while the top variant 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 580 e is offered at a price of RM698,744.

As netizens showered praises for his noble act which portrays humility, there was one Ariff Kadir Al-Katami who while congratulated the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman for his recent appointment, also warned him that “lies and slander will only become more prevalent”.

The following is what the so-called financial and investment professional shared with Anwar:

Be careful in the joy … HOW CAN THIS GOVERNMENT BE OVERTHROWN?

I was asked how ‘they’ could bring down Anwar. Why do I have to remind you so many times about it?

I still remember what happened in Perak 14 years ago. Because my family is from UMNO, I heard three months prior before the Perak state government was overthrown.

I tried to meet DS Nizar (the then menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin) but the people around him thought I wanted a ‘project’. I was very disappointed at the attitude of the people around Nizar at that time. Finally, it came true when Nizar became Perak’s MB with the shortest stint.

The question is how this unity government can be brought down?

First, they will drop (Datuk Seri Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) within five months from now which is the last date of the UMNO election. Only by bringing down Zahid is the only way to bring down this unity government.

Just a prediction: if Zahid fails to defend the president’s seat, they will then appoint Hisham (Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein) or Ismail (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) as party president. Then officially BN (Barisan Nasional) en bloc will pull out from this coalition government.

Anwar has advantages as PM. In fact, Anwar is liked by all races because of his moderate approach to politics. Anwar’s advantage is that he is liked by the people of Sarawak and Sabah.

But there are still not enough seats even if GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), Warisan and the independent MPs are loyal to Anwar. So that’s why – as I said yesterday – the cases related to LCS (littoral combatant ship), the purchase of vaccines and the misappropriation of public funds worth RM580 bil must be expedited.

I do not intend to scare you when we are in joy. But I’m more afraid if similar fall happens again. As we have just shed tears of joy, surely, we don’t wish to cry out of sadness in a few months’ time.

Anwar has just been announced as the PM yet stocks and the ringgit have risen. Congratulatory messages have poured in from world leaders. Anwar has shown an example of how he is willing to go unpaid and does not want the PM’s office to be renovated to save on unnecessary expenses.

He has been willing to work on a Sunday to discuss the cost of living. But the people who have been consumed by this racist propaganda will not see the thousand goodness….

Once again, I remind you to be careful … they are never silent even for a day. – Nov 28, 2022
