PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has won the vote of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat today (Dec 19) through a voice vote.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof had moved the confidence motion in support of Anwar’s leadership as the country’s 10th Prime Minister.
While tabling the motion, Fadillah said it was important for the unity government under Anwar’s premiership to secure the confidence of lawmakers in view of the projected economic downturn in 2023.
“This will strengthen the confidence of investors, the business community and the people,” the Petrajaya MP said, adding that the support obtained will allow the unity government to render the best service to the people.
“Hence, with the leadership of the tenth Prime Minister and his unity, the government must be supported for the success of the country and the welfare of the people.”
After being appointed to the top post, Anwar had pledged to table a motion of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat to prove his majority in Parliament. – Dec 19, 2022
