Are you doubting our judges’ credibility, UMNO asks PAS leader

UMNO castigated Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for claiming that party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was pushing for snap polls just to save himself.

“Is Sanusi saying that if Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the general election, our judges will suddenly be forced to change their minds?

“If that is what the MB is implying, I suggest him to say it out loud. Bear in mind, Sanusi will be making a heavy accusation not only on Zahid but also our judiciary’s integrity,” UMNO information chief Shahril Hamdan said, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, Sanusi claimed that Malaysia will be doomed if voters choose “one or two” power crazy leaders who bent on saving their necks instead of administering the country.

As for PAS, he added the party was against an early general election because the country is plagued by many issues.

“Zahid wants snap polls because the Bagan Datuk MP is now on trial for corruption and he fears prison time.

“His only hope is that by ensuring the ‘court cluster’ gets saved by the intervention of a new administration,” Free Malaysia Today reported him as saying.

Don’t meddle

Touching on the matter, Shahril claims that Zahid was not pushing for early polls but was merely asking it not to be delayed due to strategic reasons involving the party and country.

As UMNO supremo, he added, Zahid wants his party to win the election and stabilise the nation’s politics.

“In any case, the matter will be decided by the UMNO’s top five leaders. Others need not meddle in our party’s internal affairs.

“The prime minister now is from UMNO and based on the party’s decision, we will retain the same person for the job.

“Besides, an early election doesn’t mean UMNO will win it hands down,” Shahril concluded. – June 12, 2022
