“Are you Father of Malaysian Appointments?”: Netizens chide PM for hiring new advisers

SEVERAL netizens took to social media to criticise Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for his penchant of hiring advisers despite having a bloated Cabinet.

This time, the public were aghast to find out that former Islamic Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom had been appointed as the prime minister’s special adviser on religious matters.

(If Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin was Father of Malaysia’s Special Message, Ismail Sabri is Father of Malaysian Appointments.

(From day one of becoming prime minister until today, his work is all about appointing more advisers with no end in sight)

User Munsyi added:

(Greedy to the core. Ministers for Perikatan Nasional, advisers for the prime minister under Barisan Nasional. Loot everything while you can)

Netizen Sam posted a cheeky reply, stating that the Government had managed to reduce unemployment among UMNO members.

Yesterday, Free Malaysia Today reported Jamil as confirming that he had been appointed as Ismail Sabri’s adviser for religious matters.

However, the Kedah UMNO liaison chief refused to disclose details on when the appointment took place.

Since assuming the premiership, Ismail Sabri had retained the previous special envoy positions bestowed upon PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (Middle East), Datuk Seri Tiong King Seng of the Progressive Democratic Party (China) and Datuk Seri Richard Riot of the Sarawak Democratic Party (East Asia).

What is Idris Ahmad doing?

In addition, he had also appointed UMNO MP Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said as special adviser on human rights issue. Recently, MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran was appointed as special envoy to South Asia.

On that note, user Adzman Kamaruddin questioned Jamil’s appointment when the Government already has Islamic Affairs Minister Datuk Idris Ahmad to do the job.

(So, what is Idris Ahmad doing as Islamic Affairs Minister? Don’t tell me he is just going to stand like a statue at his ministry? Anyway, I hope we don’t hear any news about someone purchasing golf simulator and conducting marriage courses in foreign countries)

Netizen Ranger27 remarked:

(What a waste of funds. Simply squeezing out as much taxpayers’ funds as they can) – Nov 28, 2021.
