UTTERLY incredible but true.
That seems to be the sentiments accompanying the post on X by pro-Madani government Roman Akramovich (@SyedAkramin) who reminisced how the Jasin UMNO women’s wing division head Datuk Zaleha Bujang had donated a gold chain for the “Datuk Seri Najib Razak Legal Aid Fund” back in July 2018.
The social media influencer mockingly noted that even if one feels useless in life, there are people out there like Zaleha who is giving up personal treasures to free the disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is incarcerated following his involvement in the 1MDB scandal.
This came about as the 72-year-old former UMNO president is inching closer to a house arrest after having overcome the odds to secure a royal addendum victory at the Court of Appeal on Jan 6.

Many were left gobsmacked, asking “why?”. A few insinuated that Najib (and wife) could well afford his own legal counsel (or whatever the fund is intended for).
One wondered why Zaleha was willing to stand up for a thief.
Another felt sorry for the children of Zaleha for having a mother with no common sense.
One commenter joked that he suddenly felt his mood uplifted upon reading this piece of news.
However, another sarcastically remarked that the sense of self-loathing was even more pronounced as he couldn’t even afford a gold chain himself.
Some equated this act as foolish and futile – just like the kid who donated his savings to help alleviate national debt.
The act itself was just “drama” as Zaleha was a wealthy individual, surmised one commenter.
While some observed that it was a small price to pay for political mileage.
However, one netizen pointed out that it was also the same on the other side of the political divide.
Mock all you want but there is no escaping the fact that there still exists Malaysian politicians who seem to think that the rakyat is gullible.
