Arshad: Coming together of patriotic Malaysians as part of the Unity Wave an important part of history in the making

IN LIGHT of adversities stemming from 3R (race, religion and royalty) politics, army veterans group National Patriots Association (PATRIOT) has invited the public to witness the launch of the Gelombang Perpaduan (Unity Wave) on Tuesday (July 11) at the Royal Selangor Club Ballroom in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

Concerned with the latest development in the country, PATRIOT chairman Brigadier-General (Retired) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji hopes more people “will be able to become aware of this new wave that aspires to ignite by capitalising on all the strengths and hopes of every citizen for a better nation”.

“The compelling reasons to establish the Gelombang Perpaduan platform is primarily to generate awareness, participation and taking ownership by citizens in playing their role in national unity,” he told FocusM.

The movement also known as Gabungan Patriotisme Dan Perpaduan Kebangsaan (GPPK) is a collaboration of 60 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country coming together for the first time in the history of Malaysia to converge their thoughts, actions and hopes in the interest of national unity.

A number of organisations including PATRIOT, Gabungan Bertindak Malaysia, G25, Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia, Rasuah Busters and the Malaysian Youth Council will work together to whip up the new wave as a catalyst of change in Malaysia.

“National unity is the driving quantum factor that aims to reset our nation and be freed from the many ills that sets our nation backward,” the Ulu Langat (Selangor)-born Arshad, 80, pointed out.

“Our agenda will include freeing the nation and its people from the tentacles of diabolic political agendas exploiting the 3 R’s (race, religion and royalty).”

Added Arshad: “Henceforth, Gelombang Perpaduan is set to morph into a dynamic meeting and convergence of many more NGOs, professional bodies, associations, civil societies and religious bodies—along with every patriotic citizen—as we galvanise the strengths of every organisation.

“This is intended to help citizens re-build the Malaysian value system – whether at home, at work, at schools/universities, within government, and among lawmakers, politicians and businesses for the betterment of this nation.”

To witness the launch of Gelombang Perpaduan, the public can confirm their presence by sending a WhatsApp to Lt Col Hardial at +6017-3422 880 no later than tomorrow (July 10). – July 9, 2023
