Asean Super 8, ICW rescheduled due to pandemic

KUALA LUMPUR: Informa Markets, the organiser of Southeast Asia’s leading trade show in the built environment industry – Asean Super 8 – has rescheduled the 2020 edition to a new date, Oct 20–22.

The venue remains unchanged at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Informa Markets also said the International Construction Week (ICW) hosted by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), which was held simultaneously with the Asean Super 8 last year, will be moved to 2021.

In a statement, Informa Markets said the decision to reschedule the Asean Super 8, initially slated for June 23-25 was due to the recent and increasing travel restrictions impacting industry participation, as well as the travel measures imposed by the government due to Covid-19.

The Asean Super 8 will feature Southeast Asia’s leading built environment exhibitions: Asean M&E, Tenaga Expo, Asean Lift, Asean Solar, Asean Light, Futurebuild SEA, Heavy Mach and IFSEC Southeast Asia.

“We believe the revised dates will allow more time for normality and confidence to return to the marketplace, ease travel restrictions and provide all-around better conditions for exhibitors and visitors to engage,” Informa Markets co-chairman in Malaysia Tan Sri Mohd Azumi Mohamed said.

In the 2019 edition, the Asean Super 8 attracted 339 participating companies from various industries, with a solid turnout of 16,781 trade visitors. – April 13, 2020, Bernama
