Asean’s first halal gelatin industrial park to be in Melaka

KUALA LUMPUR: Sanichi Technology Bhd (STB) is set to build Asean’s first halal gelatin industrial park in Melaka, being undertaken by its subsidiary BCA International Sdn Bhd (BCA).
BCA CEO Mohd Hanif Tan said the park would house a halal gelatin plant with related downstream industrial activities for applications across diverse industries.

“These include food (yogurt, jelly, gummy sweets, beverages), pharmaceutical (styptic cotton, hard capsule, soft gel, tablets, vitamin capsulation), cosmetic (hair/skin products, toothpaste, lotion), industrial (adhesives, paper manufacturing, box making) and films (roll films, x-ray films),” he added.

The project will be completed in two phases over the next five years, with operation of the halal gelatin plant targeted for mid-2021 and completion of the industrial park by 2025.

It will have a gross development value of up to RM1.3 bil and halal gelatin production value of RM250 mil a year.

According to Mohd Hanif, BCA has identified a 85.79ha site in Kuala Linggi, Alor Gajah, with suitable amenities and close proximity to important infrastructures such as port, airport and highways.

BCA, with the Melaka State Development Corporation as its strategic partner, is finalising the acquisition of land from Pembangunan Pertanian Melaka Sdn Bhd, he added. – Bernama
