Azmin: Bersatu’s idealism, principles are my identity

BERSATU supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has described the idealism and principles of the party’s struggle as his identity.

In a statement today (June 17), the Senior Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister also expressed thanks to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the latter’s confidence in his commitment to Bersatu as a political platform to continue fighting for the people.

“The idealism of Bersatu’s struggle, which includes the norms of life as well as caring policies that uplift the human dignity has succeeded in generating prosperity for the wellbeing of the people,” he said.

“We will continue to work together with all members of Bersatu to develop a government that is clean, transparent, with integrity and committed to upholding the principles of good governance and to fight for social justice for the common prosperity of all the people.”

On Tuesday (June 14), Muhyiddin clarified that the rumours of several Bersatu members – including Azmin and Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon – would quit the party, as baseless.

Azmin began his political career in UMNO before joining Parti Keadilan Nasional in 1998. In two decades, he rose up the PKR ranks and eventually became the party’s deputy president.

Following his falling out with PKR president and former mentor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in February 2020, Azmin switched party allegiances and sided with Bersatu. – June 17, 2022
