Bad management may cause employees to start job searching in 2022

AFTER being subjected to the work-from-home concept for more than six months within this year, Malaysian employees have a lot of pent-up energy to return to a pre-pandemic working lifestyle.

This is one of the many observations discovered by Randstad Malaysia’s 2022 Market Outlook & Salary Snapshot Report, which takes a detailed look at the economic climate and recruitment landscape for next year.

The eagerness could also result to employees to start job searching for a change of working environment, especially is they had negative working experiences during lockdown, such as bad management or not getting the adequate support to work from home.

“Even though we anticipate that more people will re-enter the job search market, companies should not mistake it as a bigger candidate pool to tap into. Industries like technology, manufacturing as well as banking and financial services are facing hiring challenges due to the mismatch between their company’s digital growth ambition and the shortage of qualified talent to realise their business goals,” warned Randstad Malaysia head of operations Fahad Naeem.

He also pointed out that due to the further tightening policies on hiring foreign workers, many employers are looking to hire skilled and digitally-adept talent locally to support their digital transformation projects.

Particularly, talents in cybersecurity, blockchain, digital banking and the Internet of Things are currently in very high demand.

The report also reveals that many companies are expecting candidates in other functions such as human resources, sales and marketing as well as accounting and finance to be familiar with working on digital platforms and processes.

Candidates are also held to higher expectations in terms of their ability to think creatively and adopt technology to improve operations and boost productivity.
