Bangladesh elections : BNP claims victory in first vote since 2024 uprising

 

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Tariq Rahman is poised to become prime minister, pledging a “new era” of clean politics, economic revival and a reset with regional neighbours.

The conservative Jamaat-e-Islami, banned under the previous government, returns as the main opposition amid a rightward shift after the 2024 protests. —Feb 14, 2025
