Bank Negara suspends CCRIS access, no details given for now

BANK Negara Malaysia (BNM) had suspended access to its Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) to all credit reporting agencies.

According to report by Malaysiakini, BNM made the announcement to Bursa Malaysia by CTOS Digital Bhd (CTOS) yesterday evening.

Therefore, CTOS confirmed that its platforms would not be able to provide CCRIS information to its customers.

“Upholding customer data security has always been our utmost priority, and we are committed to fulfil the conditions in order for the suspension to be uplifted.

“We are working expeditiously to resume these services as quickly as possible. The rest of our portfolio of services remain available to our customers,” CTOS was reported saying.

So far, the central bank has yet to divulge on details as to why access to CCRIS was suspended all of a sudden.

However, the media has published several reports on certain groups purportedly trying to sell Government-held databases with personal identification information.

So far, the National Registration Department (NRD), Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Armed Forces and Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) have denied claims that their data security has been compromised. – Oct 2, 2021
