BAT Malaysia receives top employer award for the eighth successive year

BRITISH American Tobacco (M) Bhd (BAT Malaysia), the only listed tobacco industry player on Bursa Malaysia, has now bagged the Top Employer award for eight years in a row.

In addition to this recognition, BAT Malaysia was also named one of the six finalists in the 2025 Case-Based Recognition category for Social Impact & Community Engagement which further highlighted its dedication to making a meaningful difference beyond the workplace.

This prestigious award from the Top Employers Institute highlights BAT Malaysia’s excellence in human resources practices in addition to its dedication to creating a dynamic, globally competitive workplace.

Notably, the award further reinforces BAT Malaysia’s commitment to building A Better Tomorrow which is the group’s corporate motto by cultivating an outstanding work environment that empowers its people.

This achievement is part of a broader milestone with BAT Malaysia being recognised as a Top Employer in the Asia Pacific and one of the 16 companies globally to receive the esteemed Global Top Employer certification.

“At BAT Malaysia, our greatest asset is our people. And we believe in creating the best environment for our people where everyone feels valued, supported and able to be their authentic selves,” commented BAT Malaysia’s human resource director Adrita Datta.

“This recognition is a huge testament of our efforts to provide the best environment for our people.”

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey.

This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Well-being, among others.

This year’s Top Employers Certification Programme highlights the dedication of our Top Employers as they continue to set the standard, consistently delivering world-class HR strategies and practices, according to Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink.

“Consistency in a not-so-consistent world? Amidst constant change – through technological advances, economic shifts and evolving social landscapes – it is inspiring to see people and organisations rise to the challenge,” noted Plink.

“These Top Employers strive to foster growth and well-being, all while enriching the world of work. We are proud to celebrate these people-first leaders and teams as the Top Employers for 2025!” – Feb 13, 2025
