“Beauty or loyalty?” : Netizen’s query prompts flurry of responses

BEAUTY v Loyalty.

It’s an age-old question that has plagued men the world over since the beginning of time. When seeking out romantic partners, are men attracted by what meets the eye, or do they seek out ladies who will stick with a guy through thick and thin?

This was the post shared by netizen Na Na on the Meanwhile in Malaysia Facebook forum.

The simple query sparked a flurry of responses. Here is a sample.

More than a few pointed out that, in the long run good looks cannot disguise poor attitudes or character flaws.

Quite a few unashamedly declared they let their eyes decide.

Some admitted that first contact would be initiated because of physical attraction before getting to know the lady better.

One used the analogy of a shopfront display to emphasise his point that some enticement is required.

While another chose to use mee goreng for his analogy, suggesting that ‘less-is-more’ will come up trumps when men get tired of the ‘extras’ which come with their own baggage.

Of course, there were plenty who wanted their cake and ate it too.

One netizen commented that priorities and preferences change with age. As men get older, they realise the importance of having a solid and steady partner by their side.

Of course, there were those who quite clearly preferred loyal partners over just a pretty face.

Some netizens pointed out that the opposite sex was similarly motivated.

One netizen possibly summed it up best by saying, ‘beauty lies in the eye of the beholder’. He urged the poster to not sell herself short and was certain that there are plenty of men out there who find her extremely attractive.

This sentiment was echoed by a few who said to let love decide. One even explained why cupid is always painted blind, hence the saying ‘love is blind’.

All said and done, one netizen quite possibly offered the most sure proof decision that males can make, ensuring a “satisfaction guaranteed” outcome! – June 7, 2024
