GOURMET food grocer Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G.) has opened their sixth outlets at Pearl Shopping Gallery, the neighbourhood mall nestled in the heart of Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.
It has been a while since B.I.G. opened new outlets with the last store opened back in 2019 at the Mall of Medini in Johor Bahru. Established as a one-stop avenue for people who love food, B.I.G has been around since 2011
“We are glad to have B.I.G. open its door at the Pearl Shopping Gallery as our mall’s vision is to provide our community with not just a space for leisure but also being a family-oriented mall,” Aikbee Group of Companies group managing director Datuk Seri Tan Aik Kiong pointed out.
Meanwhile, Ivan Tan who is the group executive director of The Food Purveyor which operates B.I.G said the storer offers more than the usual daily basics and that B.I.G is an ideal venue for the discerning customers to get their hands on the widest gourmet food options.
“The new store span over 15,000 sq ft comprising a supermarket with a wide array of high-quality local produce, internationally sourced gourmet food and beverage, unique bespoke artisanal offerings and with an alfresco which is ideal for breakfast or all-day coffee break as the store opens daily from 8am to 10pm,” noted Tan.
Apart from B.I.G., the Food Purveyor operates four other supermarket brands, namely Village Grocer, BSC Fine Foods, Leisure Grocer and Pasaraya OTK in addition to an e-commerce platform Bites Shop. Currently, The Food Purveyor manages over 38 stores covering Penang, Klang Valley and Johor Bahru.
“We aim to offer the best selection of goods and produce around the world for our customers, both locals and expats,” The Food Purveyor CEO Kok Kian Kee pointed out.

Towards this end, B.I.G. carries over 300 products from UK’s premier supermarket brand Waitrose & Partners as well as over 200 products from Australia’s Woolworths.
