MADANI government backers are seemingly having a gala time trolling the opposition faction after Bersatu “insensitively’ staged its seventh general assembly in Shah Alam at the peak of the flood-prone monsoon season.
“Opposition states were badly hit by floods, leave of (Madani government) ministers were frozen and (renowned social media influencer) Khairul Aming came down (to Kelantan) to help distribute food (to flood victims at evacuation centres),” pro-Madani social media influencer Roman Akramovich (@SyedAkramin) hit out in a post on the X platform.
Baguslah. Negeri-negeri pembangkang teruk dilanda banjir, cuti menteri kena beku dan Khairul Aming pun turun bantu beri makanan. BERSATU pula buat Perhimpunan Agung di Selangor.

“But Bersatu held its annual general assembly in Selangor. Lazy to do work but very good at dreaming to become the government of the day.”
A few pro-opposition keyboard warriors nevertheless tried to justify that the event has “long been planned”, hence it “wouldn’t be easy to change the dates especially when it involves thousands of delegates”.
“Anyway, aid has also been channelled there (affected areas). Isn’t it ridiculous to expect all Bersatu members to go down to the field? How about first get all PKR members to go down only then there’s a room for a chat,” rebutted one commenter.
Another contended that it was only Kelantan and East Coast states of Terengganu and Pahang which encountered severe flooding, thus it would be a bit far-fetched to cancel the said general assembly when delegates from other states are not affected.
But Roman Akramovich countered that it was “sheer stupidity” to plan a general assembly in the midst of a rather predictable monsoon season which is known to wreak havoc.
“Who was the one clever enough to set the date for the assembly at this time of the year? Are you new to Malaysia?” he chastised.
Another opposition supporter contended that flooding only affected PAS-ruled states, hence “it doesn’t have any concern with Bersatu”.
However, one commenter provided pictorial evidence that “it has something to do with PAS” given its leaders were invited, “hence, couldn’t resist as evident from the big smile on their faces”.
Anther pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) social media influencer JalaIMisai (@jllmisai) also took a jab at the PAS supporters who “questioned on a hourly basis on TikTok why PMX and other ministers haven’t come down to visit flood victims”.

“On the contrary, PAS leaders themselves accord more importance on their political programme,” he observed, alluding to Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan who were spotted at the Bersatu general assembly.
For the uninitiated, Samsuri is also the PAS vice-president and Kuala Terengganu MP while Takiyuddin is the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief whip and three-term Kota Bharu MP.
This is when Roman Akramovich further took a swipe at Samsuri for being missing in action (MIA) following the circulation of a TikTok clip by @ discoveryterengganu which depicted a bed-ridden elderly man whose bed was kept afloat by petrol drums.
Ironi. Video tiktok oleh Discovery Terengganu tapi MB Terengganu sekarang ada di perhimpunan parti di Shah Alam. Mungkin hal parti politik lebih penting.

To be fair to the Terengganu MB, he could probably have taken time-off from his busy routine to represent PAS at its political ally’s event for his Facebook page is full of photos of him extending a helping hand to flood victims in his state. – Dec 1, 2024
