LABUAN MP and Bersatu member Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman remains in support of the unity government led by Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim despite his party demanding loyalty for Bersatu.
Nevertheless, he confirmed that he has not received any letter from the party that is said to contain ‘specific instructions’.
“I haven’t received anything yet, I’ve checked my email and it’s not there yet. I can’t tell you what the contents of the letter are because I haven’t received it yet.
“I will let you know as soon as I receive it later, I also want to know what the instructions are, but whatever the support for the government and the PM has not changed,” Scoop quoted him as saying.
All 31 MPs and 60 assemblymen of Bersatu have been given 14 days to reply to a letter seeking their loyalty to the party, according to Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
Their party membership would cease if they failed to reply to the letter from the party leadership, he added.
Moreover, Bersatu claimed that it has sent a letter containing written instructions from the Supreme Leadership Council (SPC) to all the party’s MP and state assembly members. This includes seven representatives who declared their support for Anwar. The letters to the seven reps have additional instructions.
“There are additional instructions and they know what it is. The media can meet up with them (to find out) what instructions I gave as a secretary-general,” Hamzah told a press conference yesterday (May 17).
The six MPs involved are Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Suhaili and Tanjong Karang MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi.
