RECENTLY, a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader was found to have posted a racist slur against Malaysian badminton star S Kisona, triggering a massive outcry on social media.
Bersatu Pasir Puteh Bersatu division vice chairperson Borhan Che Rahim even received criticism from party deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is the Youth and Sports Minister.
Borhan had since apologised for his remarks and tendered his resignation as its division vice chairperson.
However, the public were not having any of it and was unrelenting against Borhan.
“So, he apologised. It’s good when we make mistake we apologise. But he is the Naib Ketua Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Pasir Puteh. A political party representing the ppl. It’s hard 2 digest s/one in his position can write something like that,” said lawyer-activist Siti Kasim.
User Dengar Kata added: “Bersatu leader lived his life around tongkat, can’t even bid for anything without help, using racist slur on a woman who was battling all her might to represent the nation at world stage. How @#@# arrogance of him.”
Other users targeted their attacks against Pakatan Harapan, MCA and MIC for either formerly being associated with Bersatu or still clinging to it.
“Sometimes i wonder why PH cooperated with Bersatu. Not that i like PH but i bet that if they didn’t cooperate with them, they might’ve been a bit better off than what happened in those 22 months,” said user Rakyat Cat.
User I’m NK stated: “Looks like Bersatu is now driving the nuts of MCA and MIC, come on, be more vocal, don’t sleep with your money.”
Yesterday, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) itself fired a salvo against Borhan for his racist attacks against Kisona, saying they were appalled by it.
“As the governing body of the sport in the country, BAM has zero-tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination thus we absolutely condemn the remarks, and we will always stand up for our players.
“Such a dreadful remark is uncalled for, and we urge all Malaysians to condemn this senseless act,” the association remarked. – Oct 4, 2021.
