Bersatu man reckons the return of ‘Abah’ Muhyiddin can fix spiralling water and electricity rates

THE recent utility tariff hike for water and electricity has sparked a complex debate regarding economic management and the welfare of the people.

Amidst these uptrends under the administration of the current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, a sense of nostalgia and a call for the return of former premier Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is fondly known as ‘Abah’ by many Malaysians have emerged.

The increase in domestic water tariffs in Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan by 22 sen per cubic meter starting Feb 1 along with an electricity tariff hike from Jan 1 has raised concerns about the escalating cost of living. Although aimed at enhancing service sustainability, the said increases have indirectly sparked dissatisfaction among the people.

TS Muhyiddin’s leadership during the COVID-19 crisis remains vivid in memory, especially his implementation of comprehensive economic stimulus packages and financial assistance for the affected.

His focus on foreign and domestic investments as well as reforms to enhance the global competitiveness of the country along with initiatives in education and social development are seen as significant achievements.

The current scenario under PMX’s leadership faces challenges, particularly in balancing economic needs with the increasing cost of living pressures. This has led to public sentiment favouring the leadership style of TS Muhyiddin which is perceived as more inclusive and sensitive to the needs of the people.

In the face of these economic pressures and growing dissatisfaction, there is a palpable desire among the rakyat for the return of TS Muhyiddin. Remembering his tenure, they express a preference for a style of governance more aligned with their needs and aspirations.

This sentiment is not just a reflection of current economic challenges but also shows the trust and respect TS Muhyiddin held during the tenure of his premiership. The desire of the rakyat for his return through democratic means suggests a belief that his leadership could better navigate the current economic and social challenges.

In conclusion, as the Anwar administration struggles with economic management challenges and addressing public concerns, the voice of the rakyat which reflects a longing for the leadership of ‘Abah’ TS Muhyiddin signals a significant marker in the country’s political landscape. – Jan 17, 2024
