Bersatu now hit by karma, say netizens on 6 MPs supporting Anwar

BERSATU president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin explained that agreed amendments to the party’s constitution yesterday (March 2) would result in MPs or state legislative members losing their membership if they act beyond the party’s policies. He said this fits the six MPs who have declared their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim but are still members of the Bersatu. He added that the Bersatu party constitution amendments would trigger the anti-hopping law contained in Article 49A if MPs were to support the current government. That also means they will be fired as party members, thus losing their seats according to the anti-hopping laws.“Meaning, when they are not members, their seat will become vacant. When it is vacant, it will be informed to the Election Commission so election for all seats involved will be held,” he said, adding that this was the purpose of the new amendments to Bersatu’s party constitution.

Netizens are suggesting karma has struck the former PM’s party for betraying the popular vote in 2020.

Some netizens are saying now Muhyiddin is feeling the pain of betraying PH in the past.

Bersatu’s departure from Pakatan Harapan led to PH’s loss of majority. It prevented Anwar from taking power and caused Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign as PM in 2020. Muhyiddin then acceded to the post of PM after gaining a slight majority in Parliament. However, a user on X said the MPs from Bersatu should resign so the people can test Anwar’s popularity among the Malays in those seats after 15 months in power, particularly following the economic hardship many are going through. – March 3, 2024
