Bersatu sec-gen will sue those who frame him in recent MACC, income tax ordeals

BERSATU secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin (main pic) has pledged to sue unscrupulous quarters who have slandered and defamed him by associating him with financial scandals which he did not commit.

He hinted that this is a political ploy to undermine him as well as to discredit the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition of which Bersatu is its key component member.

“I’ve already instructed my officers to compile all published news reports,” Hamzah who is also the PN secretary-general told a packed Dataran Warisan crowd in Kota Bahru last night (June 24) whereby PN launched its election machinery simultaneously in Kelantan, Kedah and Selangor.

“After I’ve settled all my pending issues with the income tax authorities (Inland Revenue Board) and MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), I want to make it clear to everyone who is listening to my speech that I’ll sue those who’ve defamed me, God willing.

“We need not be afraid for we’re on the right path and we’ll win big in the upcoming state polls.”

Earlier, the Opposition leader in Dewan Rakyat related how he was “attacked by MACC” who ‘ransacked’ his entire office in the event he kept gambling money (duit judi).

“I wish to swear in the name of Allah that I’ve never once taken any gambling mney nor distribute then to my friends (allies) in PN,” confessed the Larut MP. “Not only did they (MACC) failed to locate the gambling money but there was also no element of corruption whatsoever.”

On a similar accord, Hamzah claimed the in the quest to smear his reputation, his political enemies have further “created stories that I’ve been attacked by the income tax (authorities) who came to my home”.

“I want to make it clear here that I was once a businessman … I become a MP only since 2008. As a businessman previously, I used to pay income tax … I used to pay consultants thousands of ringgit to manage my income tax,” revealed Hamzah. “So they purposely issue a story that I didn’t pay my income tax.” – June 25, 2023
