BERSATU Youth has lodged two police reports against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the UMNO president, regarding allegations of misuse of government funds and claims related to the appointment of the current Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The first report filed by Bersatu Youth’s operations secretary Meor Naqiuddin accused Zahid of abusing his position.
Zahid recently announced at the UMNO general assembly that government funds would be allocated to pay allowances for the party’s Skuad Sabil volunteers. He also stated that Skuad Sabil would be integrated into the civil defence force (APM) and receive allowances for their contributions to disaster relief and humanitarian work.
As the minister who oversees the APM, he is using his position to benefit a squad affiliated with his own party,
Meor criticised Zahid for using public funds to benefit a party-affiliated group.
“This is our money. It is taxpayers’ money. We want some justification for his use of government funds to provide allowances to Skuad Sabil,” he told reporters after filing the report at Dang Wangi police station.
Moreover, Bersatu Youth is also considering filing a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding this issue.
The second report lodged by Bersatu’s Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir addressed allegations that Zahid secured 30 statutory declarations from Barisan Nasional MPs endorsing Anwar as PM.
Furthermore, Akmal has called for an investigation into whether there was any attempt to deceive or mislead the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah in the appointment of the PM following the 15th General Election (GE15) in November 2022. – Aug 30, 2024
